JOHN BERNARD BUN ROSS
Bernard Bun Ross, 89, of Cass City, died Thursday, May 5, 2005 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility after a short illness. He was born August 29, 1915 at home in Cass City to John and Bridget (McCormick) Ross. He married Loretta B. Dillon September 28, 1940 in St. Agatha Catholic Church, Gagetown.
Bun graduated from Cass City High School in 1933. He then attended Ferris Institute, now Ferris State University, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He owned the Federated Store for 41 years, retiring in 1982. Bun was one of ten original investors in the Cass City Industrial Development Corp., which was responsible for attracting Walbro to Cass City. He was a charter member of the Chamber of Commerce. He served on its board of directors four years and was president one year. Bun served on the Village Council from 1967 thru 1973. He also served on the Zoning Board for twelve years. He was also a member of the Gavel Club, working on many projects including making toys for Christmas for the auction for the Hospital fund. Bun was a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church for 64 years and served as an usher there for nearly as many years. He enjoyed golf and loved his grandchildren.
Bun is survived by his wife, Loretta; children: Shirley (Delbert) Law of Whitmore Lake, Gerald B. Ross of Novi, Richard Ross, S.J., of Chicago, IL, Robert (Patti) Ross of Ventura, CA, Sharon (Dan) Delamarter of Cass City, Mary (Jack) Thacker of Belleville; grandchildren: Elizabeth Law, Tyler Ross, Amanda Ross, Jessica Ross, Erica Delamarter, Danielle Delamarter, Cody Ross, Jared Thacker, Alex Ross, Dillon Ross, Zachary Thacker, Jonas Thacker; sisters: Florence London, Helen (Bill) Jackson, Kathleen (Larry) Steeh, Frances (John) Flynn; brothers: Edward (Jackie) Ross, Fred (Shirley) Ross; many nieces and nephews. Bernard is preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-laws: Mary (Bob) Howlett, Elizabeth (Norbert) Miller, June Porter; brother and sister-in-law, Alex (Blanche) Ross.
Memorial Mass held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2005 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Steve Fillion officiating. Vigil service 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 8, 2005 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Detroit Province Society of Jesus or Cass City Athletic Boosters. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery.
