RONALD VERE GEIGER
Ronald V. Geiger, 94, of Cass City, died Sunday, August 6, 2023 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit, Cass City. He was born December 24, 1928 in Pigeon to Edward and Ortha Mae (Melick) Geiger. He married Shirley Ida Wells on August 28, 1948 in Pigeon. She died August 18, 2015.
Ron graduated from Pigeon High School and moved to Cass City shortly after. He worked at King’s Cleaners for twelve years and then for Auten Motor Sales as a parts man and salesman. Ron bought into the dealership, renaming it Geiger-Hunt Motor Sales and sold it in 1981. He continued working in the business until retirement. For many years, Ron was an active member of EUB Church and then the Salem United Methodist Church, which later became Cass City United Methodist Church. He served as a recording secretary for twenty years, church treasurer for twenty years, and was a member of the administrative board and Sunday School. Ron was a member of the Cass City Gavel Club during which time he served two terms as president. He was talented at woodworking, and would laser out beautiful works of art.
Ron is survived by his children: Sandra (Martin) Hyzer of Caseville, Sally Anderson, and friend Mike, of Ludington, Shari (Kenneth) Schott of Essexville, Scott (Jody) Geiger of Gurnee, IL; grandchildren: Lori (Kevin) Trost, Daniel Hyzer, Josiah Spencer, Nathaniel (Melissa) Spencer, Ben (Tonya) Schott, Kevin (Cassie) Schott, Ryan (Sydney) Geiger, Megan (Duncan) Lowrey; great grandchildren: Elly, Zachary, Lexi, Dylan, Landyn, Brenden, Bryleigh, Emmett, Aiden; siblings: Kenneth Geiger, Beverly McCarty, Keith (Janet) Geiger, Paul (Carol) Geiger; sister-in-law, Nancy Geiger; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; siblings: Pauline Eichler, Jeanette Hoepner, Shirley Greenleaf, Rev. Ross Geiger.
Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2023 in Cass City United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Demyanovich officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cass City United Methodist Church, Northwood Meadows, or Compassus Hospice of Cass City.
