Derek Alger Romain

DEREK ALGER ROMAIN,
81, of Cass City, died following a brief illness, Thursday, October 21, 2021 in McLaren Flint Hospital. He was born June 18, 1940 in Caro to Michael and Edyna (Mae) Romain. He married Elaine Alice Butler on August 19, 1961 in Caro. She died August 1, 2021.

Derek was employed by General Cable for twenty-two years. Later he worked as a car salesman and retired in 2010. In his younger years, Derek enjoyed the thrill of motorcycle racing; side car ice racing and Enduro racing. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Derek loved the water, especially swimming in the pool with his grandchildren. He spent many hours cutting and selling firewood.

Derek is survived by his daughter, Wendy Romain (Steve DeLong) of Cass City; son, Rod (Ashley) Romain of Caro; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine; brother, James Romain.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating.
