ROBERT DEAN DELONG
Robert D. DeLong, 70, of Cass City died unexpectedly Friday, February 7, 2025. He was born April 26, 1954 in Novesta Township to Donald and Lucille (Loomis) DeLong. He married Kathleen Moss on December 23, 1998 in Caro.
Bob graduated from Cass City High School with the class of 1972. He attended Michigan State University’s dairy short course program for a technical degree. Bob moved back to the Cass City area where he began farming. He had a passion for showing cattle. Bob enjoyed teaching children about the livestock industry. He served as Greenleaf Township Supervisor for eight years. Throughout the years, he held numerous positions throughout the Michigan cattle industry and received many awards. Bob founded the Paul DeLong Scholarship which provides scholarships to local 4-H/FFA youth.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kathleen; son, Joseph (Kayla) DeLong; daughter, Kate (Jeremy Parker) DeLong; “adopted son”, Tommy (Megan) Wilczynski; grandchildren: Breslyn DeLong, Jenisyn DeLong, Caiden Parker, Zachary Parker, Weston Wilczynski, Kenley Wilczynski; siblings: Francis (Sharon) DeLong, Duane (Denise) DeLong, Connie (Mance) Benitez, Donna (Larry) Seale; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Paul DeLong; his parents; brother, Richard DeLong; a niece and nephew.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2025 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Memorials may be made to Kranz Funeral Home for the benefit of the family or to the Paul DeLong Memorial Scholarship.
