DONALD RUPARD ROBERSON,
90, of Kingston, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 in United Hospice of Marlette Residence Center with his family by his side. He was born January 10, 1920 in Romeo to Enoch Bernard and Mary St. Clair (Wills) Roberson. He married Joyce M. Cowles February 15, 1944 in Houghton Lake.
She died May 14, 2006.
Don spent 2 years in the Conservation Corps in Roscommon. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Army Air Corps during World War II. Don worked at the Caro State Hospital for over 20 years. He was a member of Kingston Wesleyan Church, Kingston VFW Post #5317, Senior Citizens Club and Dayton Wells Farmers Club. Don loved the outdoors. He truly enjoyed his home and taking walks by the creek and pond. He loved his family and spending time with friends. Don had a wonderful memory and told beautiful stories of his life growing up.
Don is survived by his children: Robert E. (Karen) Roberson of Mayville, Donald F. “Ted” (Marsha) Roberson of Kingston, Jeanette (David) Kratz of Kingston, Janet (Dean Clinesmith) Kratz of Silverwood, David (Judy) Roberson of Kamiah, ID; grandchildren: Diane Roberson, Lisa (Sam) Mosier, Shawn Roberson, Bobbi Sue (Michael) Westerby, Todd (Lacey) Roberson, Amanda (Brian) Roberson Austin, Katie Roberson, Amy (Jeff) Anderson, Larry Kratz, Leon Kratz; 11 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; brother, Todd (Rose) Roberson of Cheboygan; many special nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandsons, Joshua Kratz and Jason “Jake” Roberson; granddaughter, Teresa; brother, Gordon Roberson; sisters: Ruby Roberson and Bina Redifer.
Memorial service held 12:00 noon Thursday, June 10, 2010 in Kingston Wesleyan Church, Kingston with Pastor Len Wyatt of Kingston Wesleyan Church and Pastor Doug Richardson of United Hospice of Marlette officiating. Memorials may be made to United Hospice of Marlette or Kingston Wesleyan Church. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery.
