COMING SOON!  RICHARD LEROY HENDRICK

Richard L. Hendrick, 89, of Cass City, died following a brief illness Monday, June 17, 2024 in Medilodge of Cass City. He was born November 26, 1934 in Kingston to Lee and Gladys (Copeland) Hendrick. He married Elaine Margaret Weatherhead on August 10, 1953.

Dick graduated from Cass City High School. He joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War era. Dick was employed by GTE telephone company for thirty-seven years. In 1963, he bought the Cass Theatre which he owned and operated for fifty-nine years. During this time, Dick proudly kept his theater clean, changed the marquee as needed, and made lots and lots of fresh popcorn. Snow skiing and jet skiing were favorite hobbies, but his passion was the silver screen. He once confessed, “I liked electronics a lot better than farming”. The family would like to thank his special neighbors, Scott and Kelly, and the nurses at Medilodge.

Dick is survived by his wife, Elaine;  sons: Scott (Carol) Hendrick, Ronald Hendrick, three granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Susan Kay Hendrick.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with military honors. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. To continue Dick’s love of movies, please consider a memorial to the Cass Theatre.
