RICHARD RAYMOND WALLACE
Richard “Dick” Wallace, 86, of Cass City died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 peacefully at home. He was born August 4, 1938 in Cass City to Clark Raymond and Gladys Naomi (Pelton) Wallace. He married Judith Priestley on December 30, 1961 in the Akron Presbyterian Church.
Dick graduated from Cass City High School in 1957. He worked for Active Trailer in Marlette until he was drafted into the military. During his two years of active service with the U.S. Army, Dick toured with the pistol team, earning many competition medals. He worked at Bay City Chevrolet for over twenty-five years until taking an early retirement at the age of fifty three. Together, he and Judy renovated their house into a home, where they raised their four daughters.
Dick purchased his first motorcycle when he was twelve and continued this passion his entire life. In his younger years, he participated in enduro motorcycle racing. He received his most cherished trophy after riding with a broken foot in the Jack Pine Run. Dick shared his love of riding motorcycles with his daughters and grandchildren. Later in life, Dick and Judy enjoyed spending time riding together on their Harleys.
Hunting and collecting guns were his favorite hobbies, and these passions took Dick on many hunting adventures in places from Michigan to Alaska, but his favorite was hunting elk in the mountains of Colorado. An avid and active outdoorsman, canoeing and camping were some of the other outdoor activities that occupied Dick’s time. He visited forty nine states including Alaska (twice) and Hawaii.
Mechanically inclined, the farm boy could fix anything. He was a member of the NRA, ABATE of Michigan and Cass City United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee and loved his church family. This precious man will be remembered for being kind and sincere.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Judy; daughters: Karen (Kevin) Wagg, Kelly (Scott) Hurford, Andrea (John) Wallace, Lisa (Brian) Hibdon; “Bumpa’s” grandchildren: Jennifer (Jon) Mueller, Grant (Emma) Hurford, Zachary (Emily) Wagg, Jenilee (Ashton) McCombs, Reid Hibdon, Cora Hibdon; great-grandchild, Ellery McCombs; sister, Sandra Bader.
