TROY RHINEHARDT
94, of Lapeer, formerly of Cass City and Caro, died Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in Stonegate Health Campus, Lapeer. He was born September 18, 1928 in Young Harris, Georgia to Joseph Asbury and Osie Mae (Love) Rhinehardt. He married Alvena “Bea” Behr on June 25, 1955 in Angola, Indiana.
Troy joined the United States Navy at age seventeen, where he served on board the U.S.S. Yellowstone AD-27 and was honorably discharged in 1948. He then attended trade school for mechanical training. Troy worked for Pontiac Motors as an inspector for thirty-one years retiring in 1981. He had many hobbies including: woodworking, making clocks and toys, gardening, cooking, canning, and caring for his meticulous lawn. Troy enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. He loved people and made friends easily wherever he went. Troy loved all animals, especially dogs and cats
Troy is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Bea; daughters: Peg (Bob) Otterstetter of Lake Orion, Karen Sue (Mike) Lee of Lake Orion; grandchildren: Lauren Lee, Jennifer (Kirk) Luca; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his siblings: Marcus Rhinehardt, Willis Rhinehardt, Robert “Aude” Rhinehardt, James Rhinehardt, Christina Burch, Stella Step, Vina Lou Parkerson, Ida Belle Rhinehardt.
Memorial service held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor Dan Dickenson of New Life Christian Church, Saginaw officiating. Military honors conducted by the Cass City V.F.W. Post #3644 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cass City V.F.W. Post #3644 or the Alzheimer’s Association.
