Dorothy M. Reifert, 74, of Warren, died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, October 30, 2002 in Faith Medical Center, St. Clair, following a short illness. She was born March 5, 1928 in Detroit to Ray and Jen (Howarth) Harbin. She married Elwood W. Reifert September 26, 1947 in Warren.
Dorothy was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of East Pointe. She babysat in her home for many years. Dorothy has been visiting her cottage on Lake Huron in Harbor Beach every summer since she was a child. She enjoyed crocheting and loved watching ice skating on television. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Elwood; children: Paul (Beverly Kranz) Reifert of Chico, CA, Sharon (Karl) Furchak of St. Clair; grandchildren: Jason Reifert and Jenna Furchak; special adopted grandchildren: Elizabeth (David) Bandy of Warren and their daughter, Aaliyah; and Suzette Johns of Warren; brother, James (Judy) Harbin of South Branch; sister, Helen Jones of Ocala, FL; sister-in-law, Marlene (Dick) Harbin of Marlette; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers: Ronald Harbin, Cecil R. Harbin; brother-in-law, Robert Jones.
Funeral services held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at Immanuel United Methodist Church of East Pointe, with Rev. Demthna Krikorian officiating. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
