JEAN E. CLARA REID, 89, of Cass City, died Monday, October 19, 2009 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro, following a short illness. She was born May 17, 1920 in Gagetown, to Arthur and Edna (Wood) Clara. She married Donald Reid September 20, 1940 in Gagetown. He died February 20, 1996.
Jean and Don moved to the farm in Grant Township after their marriage. Jean lived there until her move to the Assisted Living Facility four years ago. Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cass City for many years. She was active in the church Woman’s group and was a deacon. She volunteered at the Rawson Memorial Library for several years. Jean loved her flower garden which she tended for most of her life.
Jean is survived by her sons: James (Betty) Reid of Arlington, VA, Richard (Pamela) Reid of Gregory, Fredrick (Barbara) Reid of Webberville, Roger Reid of Moline; grandchildren, Valerie (Russell) Reid-Smith, Brian Reid, Tamara (Neil) Bush, Paul (Tara) Reid, Jeff (Angie) Reid, Laura (Tom) Rice, Ryan (India) Reid and Christina Kula; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothea Quick of Midland; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2009 in First Presbyterian Church of Cass City with Rev. David Blackburn officiating. Interment will be in Grant Township Cemetery, Gagetown.
