JAMES EDWIN REEHL
89, of Kingston, died Sunday, September 19, 2021 in Covenant Medical Center Harrison Campus, Saginaw. He was born May 17, 1932 in Bad Axe, the oldest of four children born to William Frederick and Millie Opal (Bynum) Reehl. He married Marlyn Reitz on June 18, 1960 at Dayton Center Church, Silverwood.
Jim graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1950. He was enrolled to attend Michigan State University when he was drafted into the United States Army where he worked as a clerk. Following two years in the Army, Jim began his studies in business at MSU. He started working for General Cable when it opened and later for Kingston State Bank. Jim attended banking school at the University of Michigan. He served as Vice President of Kingston State Bank for twenty-eight years. Jim went on to work as an estate planner and fund raiser at Teen Ranch in Marlette where he eventually retired.
Jim was a member of Dayton Center Church of Silverwood where he served as choir director, song leader, and maintained various leadership roles. He was a member of many organizations including Tom Thumb Singers, Michigan Ohio Concert Choir, Kingston Lions Club, and Youth Advisory Foundation of Tuscola County. His hobbies included photography, playing golf, wintering in Florida, and traveling especially if it was a cruise. Together, Jim and Marlyn faithfully supported all of the Kingston Community Schools sports programs. He directed the Kingston area Little League baseball program for twenty years.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Marlyn; children: Dawn (Andrew) Fraser of Grand Blanc; Jill (Robert Ashton) Reehl of Los Angeles, CA; Mark (Suzanne) Reehl of Decker; grandchildren: Jenna (Aaron) Casey of Norton, England; Ellie (Jackson) Richardson of Lynchburg, VA; Blake (Dana) Fraser of Lynchburg, VA; Luke Reehl of Decker, Nathan Reehl of Decker; sister, Barbara Sheibels of Allegan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Bobby Dee Reehl, Thomas Reehl.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2021 at Dayton Center Church, Silverwood with Rev. Larry Schwarck officiating. Interment will be in Rich Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Reehl are: Luke Reehl, Nathan Reehl, Troy Reehl, Brent Reehl, Norbert Reehl, Timothy Sheibels, Steven Sheibels, David Dell; honorary pallbearer, Blake Fraser.
