VERNETA MAE RAYL
Verneta M. Rayl, 77, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Gagetown, went to be with her Lord Thursday, October 27, 2005 in her home. She was born October 17, 1928 in Cass City to Douglas J. and Verneta Mabel (Wright) Stilson. She married Earl Rayl, Jr. June 4, 1945.
Verneta graduated from Cass City High School. She retired from General Cable after many years. Verneta was always most content when helping others. Volunteering where needed, she tutored elementary school children, supported a local convalescent home and was devoted to all aspects of her church, including being a member of the choir and selecting the music. She enjoyed golfing, knitting and baking and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Verneta is survived by her husband of 57 years, Earl; children: Randy Rayl and Jim (Vicki) Rayl; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters: Laura (Ken) McRae, Ruth (Keith) Buehrly; brothers: Oliver (June) Stilson, Carl (Arlene) Stilson; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers: Gerald (Betty) Stilson, Donald (Evelyn) Stilson.
Funeral service held 12:15 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2005 in Gagetown United Methodist Church with Rev. John Heim officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City.
