Mattie Rayl

MATTIE EILEEN (DEAN) RAYL,
90, of Cass City, formerly of Almont, died following a short illness Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Covenant Healthcare, Cooper Campus, Saginaw. She was born February 9, 1927 in Akron to Lyle and Goldie (Vader) Dean. She married Arnold Rayl December 23, 1944 in Akron. He died January 2, 2012.

Mattie graduated from Caro High School. Mattie and Arnold together with their children, made dairy farming their livelihood and they loved it. After life on the farm, Mattie went to work for Kmart. She later took a job working as a secretary in the office of Kingsbrook Mobile Home Park in Almont. She and Arnold lived there for many years. Mattie loved her family and enjoyed visiting with friends from the past and new friends she made at Northwood Meadows. With her recent adjustment to Medilodge of Cass City, she enjoyed playing games and having friends and family stop to see her. Mattie was a member of Almont Baptist Church for many years serving as a Sunday School Teacher.

Mattie is survived by her sons: Francis (Marti) Rayl of Cass City, Arland (Patsy) Rayl of Almont; half-brother, Wayne Dean of Bad Axe; grandchildren: Tom Rayl, Joe (Hilary) Rayl, Kevin (Wendi) Rayl, Paula (Kevin) Simpson, Connie (Johnny) Guntle, Bonnie (John) Byington, Pete (Mary) Rayl, Krystal (Hughie) Boggs; great grandchildren: Johnathan, Rochele, Courtnie, James, Lucas, Jacob, Owen, Eva, Anderson, Arnold, Elizabeth, Crystal, Brantley; sister-in-law, Kathryn Dean of Bad Axe. She is preceded in death by her son, Keith; brother, Gerald Dean; great granddaughter, Tess Rayl; daughter-in-law, Judy Rayl.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Rev. David Hill of First Baptist Church of Cass City officiating. Interment will take place in Almer Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mattie: Tom Rayl, Joseph Rayl, Kevin Rayl, Pete Rayl, Johnny Guntle, John Byington, Kevin Simpson and Hughie Boggs. Memorials may be made to Northwood Meadows. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.

Visitation: Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m.
