DELBERT E. RAWSON, DDS
Delbert (Del) Rawson, 89, of Naples, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 in his home. He was born February 11, 1920, in Cass City to Audley and Lina (Day) Rawson. He married Doris Park October 15, 1955 in Caro.
Del graduated from Cass City High School and Central Michigan University. He received his Dental Degree from University of Michigan. Del served in the South Pacific during World War II in the Navy and with the Marines. After his service he returned to Cass City and set up his dental practice. During these years he was very active in the village of Cass City. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and served on many of the boards and committees. Del was secretary of the Rawson Foundation. He also served on the Cass City School Board and Village Council for many years. Del was a director for the Pinney State Bank now Chemical Financial Corp of Midland, Michigan. Del was a past president and member of the Cass City Rotary Club and past president and member of the Torch Club of Saginaw. He was a member of the Saginaw Valley Dental Society and the Michigan State Dental Society. Del retired from his practice in 1985 and went to Bonita Springs, Florida. While in Bonita Springs he belonged to the First Presbyterian Church and served on many committees. In 1999 he moved to Bentley Village.
Del is survived by his loving wife, Doris; his son, James (Penny) Rawson of Bellevue, WA; grandson, James (Alisa) Rawson of Lake Oswego, OR; sister, Elsie Fessler of Naples; sister-in-law, Julie Rawson of Atlantic Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Del’s funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday March 13, 2009 in the Cass City United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Donelson of Cass City United Methodist Church and retired minister, Rev. Joe Robertson officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Rawson Memorial Library, Cass City United Methodist Church, or First Presbyterian Church, Bonita Springs, FL.
