JAMES SAWTELL PRUETT,
90, of Kingston, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013 in his home. He was born March 11, 1923 in Madison, WI to Eugene Francis and Emma Coy (Sawtell) Pruett. He married Jennie Myrtle Schell January 20, 1961 in Caro. She died September 30, 1991.
Jim graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Physical Education. After graduation he worked as a lifeguard for the new Marlette Pool. He then worked as a school teacher and coach for Marlette Schools. Jim owned a dog kennel in Marlette and was a dog trainer. He also worked as a plumber. In about 1966 he purchased several acres of land to create Trapper Jim's Hunt Club in Kingston. He was the owner and manager of Trapper Jim's until the present. Jim had a great love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and just driving around the countryside. Jim and Jennie were beautiful dancers and enjoyed Big Band music. He was a happy go lucky guy. You could often hear him singing or whistling throughout the day. He enjoyed eating out and loved being with family and friends. Jim loved his dogs especially his great danes, Delila and Sassy.
Jim is survived by his daughters: Stacy Seifferlein of Kingston, Jaime Pruett of Kingston; grandchildren: Andrew James "A.J." and Riley; great grandson, Jordan; sister, Harriet Pruett of Redondo Beach, CA; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter; sister, Marty Wolfe and his parents.
Memorial service held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Trapper Jim's Hunt Club, with Marianna Hartsell officiating. Memorials may be made to Hometown Hospice of Lapeer. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
