ELAINE JEAN PROCTOR
Elaine J. Proctor, 79, of Cass City, died Saturday, November 7, 2015 in Cartwright Hospice Care Center, Saginaw, from complications due to Parkinson's Disease. She was born May 8, 1936 in Detroit to Frederick Alker and Elizabeth Lamont (Sharp) Burgess. Elizabeth passed away shortly after Elaine's birth. Frederick later married Martha (Luttinen) and the couple had one daughter, Elaine's sister Carole. She married Thomas Wright Proctor January 31, 1959 in North Congregational Church in Detroit. He died October 18, 2013.
Elaine graduated from Walled Lake High School in 1954 and later attended Ferris State College studying accounting, graduating in 1958. She was hired as the first female accountant at Dow. Tom and Elaine owned Old Wood Drug in Cass City for 33 years, she worked as the accountant for their business. Elaine was a member of the AAUW and a long time member of Cass City United Methodist Church, where she volunteered many hours of service. Elaine and Tom hosted 11 foreign exchange students while he was a member of the Cass City Rotary Club. She enjoyed attending the theatre with family and friends, playing golf, and was a faithful Detroit Tigers fan. Elaine was a former Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout leader, and softball coach.
Elaine is survived by her children: Kurt (Sally) Proctor of Fairfax Station, VA, Kris (Nicholas) Lukacs of Brighton; grandchildren: Beau Proctor, Andrea Proctor, Jack Proctor, Carly Lukacs, Derek Lukacs; sister, Carole (Ken) Johnson of Chesterfield Twp.; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: Elizabeth Burgess, Frederick and Martha Burgess.
Funeral service held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 in Cass City United Methodist Church with Rev. Jackie Roe officiating. Memorials may be made to Cass City United Methodist Church or Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
