Arthur J. Pratt, 66, of Deford, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 22, 2003 in Huron Medical Center, Bad Axe. He was born May 24, 1936 at his home in Novesta Township to Albert J. “Tom” and Thelma L. (Henderson) Pratt. He married Mary Helen Woodard April 24, 1959 in Novesta Church of Christ.
Arthur was a lifelong resident of Cass City. He worked as an auto body repairman in the Flint area since January, 1961. He taught auto body repair for 7 years at Genesee County Skill Center through Mott Community College and also at Tuscola County Skill Center for a year. Arthur was proud to have served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Novesta Church of Christ. After a brief retirement, he went back to work, part time, for Pat Curtis Chevrolet, Olds, and Cadillac. Arthur enjoyed antiques and auctions. He was part of the Midland Antique and Car show for 4 years. His dog, Skitch was always faithfully at his side.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Mary Helen, children: Alan (Kim) Pratt of Oxford, Michelle (Dennis) Hendrick of Deford , JoEllen (Joe) Bukoski of Cass City, grandchildren: Justin Mitchell, Amanda Mitchell, Casey Hendrick, Jaclyn Hendrick, AJ Pratt, Jacob Pratt, Lauren Bukoski, Bryce Bukoski; sister and brother in laws: Wanda (Jim) Lonsberry, Keith Little, Florence (Bruce) McVety; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Marvin Pratt, sisters: Elaine Scammans, Velma Simpson; sister-in-law, Wanetta Little.
Funeral services held 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 26, 2003 at Novesta Church of Christ with Chuck Emmert officiating. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery, Cass City. Active pallbearers for Mr. Pratt: Dave Little, Dennis Little, Dean Little, Stuart Venema, Ron McKinstry, Bill Bright. Honorary pallbearers: Bill Wright, Jim Horian, Scott McDaniel. Memorials may be made to Novesta Church of Christ.
