SARAH CHARLOTTE PRAHL
Sarah Charlotte Prahl, 100, of Cass City formerly of Quanicassee, died Sunday, September 25, 2016 in Medilodge of Cass City. She was born October 12, 1915 in Lorraine, OH to Steven and Bertha (Benedict) Kato. Sarah married Louis Prahl January 23, 1937 in Bay City. He died November 10, 1989.
She worked for AC Spark Plug during World War II, Buick Motor Company in Flint and later for Farmer Pete's Packing Company. Sarah was skilled at sewing, especially Santa Claus and angel dolls that she freely and proudly gave away. She made the best friendship bread and Christmas cookies. Sarah was a lovely lady that would do anything for anyone. The motto that she taught her family was "one hand washes the other".
Sarah is survived by her grandchildren: Patti (A.J.) Strieter of Pickford, Kathy Jo (Scott) Maguire of Caro, Scott (Annyn) Vanderlooven of Eagle River, AK; granddaughter in law, Melanie Vanderlooven of Sault Ste. Marie; great grandchildren: Kayla Maguire, Nick Maguire, Justin Vanderlooven, Joshua Vanderlooven, Casey Strieter, Jesse Strieter. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley (George) Vanderlooven; son, Robert Louis Prahl; grandson, Lee Allen Vanderlooven; great grandson, Cody Vanderlooven; brothers: John Kato, Joe Kato, Eddie Kato, Steve Kato, George Kato.
Graveside service and interment held 12:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 in Wisner Township Cemetery with Sam Leppert, Funeral Service Celebrant officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Sarah's family would like to thank the staff of Medilodge of Cass City for their excellent care.
