RITA AGNES POWELL
Rita A. Powell, 86, of Cass City, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in her son’s home. She was born May 22, 1922 in Owendale to William and Gladys (Weiler) King. She married Sanford A. Powell May 10, 1941 in Gagetown. He died November 2, 1994.
Rita helped her husband on the farm. She was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. Rita enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and doing crossword puzzles. She was an avid card player. Rita was an excellent cook and always had homemade bread and treats for her family.
Rita is survived by her children: Roy (Betty) Powell of Cass City, Karen Izydorek of Caro, Elaine Powell of Shepherd, Dennis (friend Linda Salas) Powell of Cass City, Alan (Cindy) Powell of Pigeon; grandchildren: Robyn (Mark) Murdoch, Cindy (Anthony) Moran, Beth (Scott) Marshall, Shannon Izydorek, Randy Izydorek, Paula Izydorek, Stan (Nicole) Powell, Jason (Delores) Swartz, Denise Ellsworth, Jeff Powell, Paul Powell, Wendy Witkze, Tim Russell, Jessica Roberts, Glenda Cregeur; great grandchildren: Braden, Justin, Jesse, Derek, Tayler, Amanda, Reed, Krystian, Karysa, Kayden, Blake, Gabriel, Christopher, Victoria, Jenna, Devin, Keegan, Gage, Dylon, Logan, Mckayla, Ashton, Mason, Lexicia; brothers: Bernard (Norma) King, Don (Sandy) King; sisters: Erma Thompson, Marion Stein, Eva Goslin; sisters-in-law: Jan King, Rosella Kretzschmer, Esther Powell; brother-in-law, Frederick Powell. She is preceded in death by her sons, Wayne and William Powell, grandson, Scott Izydorek, brothers: Art, Harold, Ron, and Ed King; sister, Madeline Sontag, great granddaughter, Holly Marshall.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 in St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Sheridan Corners with Rev. Joe Griffin officiating. Interment will be in the spring in St. Columbkille Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Columbkille Catholic Church or Home and Hospice Advantage. Pallbearers for Mrs. Powell are: Jeff Powell, Paul Powell, Randy Izydorek, Tim Russell, Scott Marshall, Mark Murdoch.
