M. SUZANNE POWELL,
Sue Powell, 81, of Kingston died Friday, June 19, 2020 in her home in Kingston with her family by her side. She was born May 5, 1939 in Bay City to Richard Franklin and Margaret (McDonald) Nickerson. She married Lowell T. Grimes April 21, 1956, in Marlette. He died April 13, 1985. She later married Gerald A. Powell June 4, 1988 in Las Vegas. He died August 6, 2011.
Sue grew up in Caro and later moved to Marlette. She worked at Marlette Hospital, Jensen Bridge and Supply Company, for Dr. Grant Wilson, Thumb RV Harley Davidson Dealer and lastly for Dr. Ahmed in Marlette. Sue loved animals. She enjoyed her winters in Florida and she especially loved spending time with family and friends.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Tamera “Tammy” (Les) King of Marlette; grandchildren: Megan (Steve) Papp of Kingston, Melissa (Andrew) Nixon of Saginaw, Lowell (Ashley) Grimes of Adrian, Tom (Nicole) Grimes of Flushing; great grandchildren: Maci, Brock, Griffin, Jackson, Masen and Olivia; brothers, Donald Nickerson of Huntington Beach, CA, Ronald (Joyce) Nickerson of Fairview; sister, Kayleen Seorum of Birch Run; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Joe Wild of Zeeland and her buddy, Piper her daughter’s Yorkie. She is preceded in death by her son, Rick Grimes and infant son, Derek.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2020 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Debra L. Kranz, Funeral Service Celebrant officiating. Memorials may be made to Tamera King for the benefit of the Family Discretionary Fund. Pallbearers for Sue will be: Les King, Steve Papp, Andrew Nixon, Lowell Grimes, Tom Grimes and Roger Ballard.
