GERALD ARTHUR POWELL,
75, of Kingston died Saturday, August 6, 2011 in Sanilac County Medical Care Facility in Sandusky. He was born May 20, 1936 in Kingston to Louis L. and Mabel B. (McCall) Powell. He married Margaret Sue Nickerson June 4, 1988 in Las Vegas, NV.
Jerry worked for General Motors for over 33 years retiring October 1, 1988. Jerry loved antiquing. From the time he was a boy going along with his Mom to antique shows and stores his love grew. He loved tractors particularly Antique John Deere tractors. Jerry had a kind heart. He would help anyone. He loved animals also but his greatest love was the Village of Kingston. Throughout his life in Kingston he was very generous with his time and donations. He made many donations to the Kingston Depot and the Kingston United Methodist Church for their annual Harvest supper and auction. Jerry and Sue enjoyed their winters in Florida and spending time with family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Sue; children: Terri Powell of Kingston, Sherri (fiancé Nick) Beecher of Kingston, Rick (Jan) Grimes of Kingston, Tammy (Les) King of Marlette; special friends, Rod and Janet Kramer of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren: Megan (Steve) Pall, Melissa King, Lowell (Ashley) Grimes, Tom (Nicole) Grimes; great granddaughter, Olivia; sister, Thelma Felice of Rochester Hills; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Don Powell, EJ Powell; sister, Doris Jackson.
Memorial service held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2011 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Rev. Debra Brown of Kingston United Methodist Church officiating.
