THOMAS SCOTT PONDER,
51, of Caro, died Monday, May 10, 2010, in his home following a long illness. He was born January 5, 1959 in Washington D.C. the son of Jane and Robert Ponder.
Tom graduated from Jordan College with an Associates of Arts degree. He was a member of the Caro Church of Christ. He enjoyed many talents and interests in his lifetime including: playing guitar and singing, listening to country music, gardening, wood crafts, writing poetry, reading, art and drawing and he especially enjoyed his pet dogs. He and Louise fostered many children throughout their marriage together and adopted two children. Tom worked at Erla’s Grocery Store for a number of years and was also an over the road truck driver.
Tom is survived by his children: Natalie (Stephen) Cornish of Eaton Rapids, Isaac (Jessica) Ponder of Owosso, Sarah (Dave) Strickland of Cass City, Sherry Ponder and friend Dustin McKrow of Oakton, VA, Brittney (Kyle) Rick of Cass City, Galen (Kelly) Ponder of Killeen, TX, Shaylee Ponder at home, special foster daughter, Laurie Huffman and friend, Jeff Wolfe of Millington; 15 grandchildren. Also surviving, his ex-wife of 25 years, Louise Palmer; mother, Jane Ponder of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Kali (Tom) Hacias-Boecher of Cincinnati, OH; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Ponder; brother-in-law, Jeff Hacias.
Memorial service held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor John Krapohl of Church of Christ officiating. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
