Hazel May Pomeroy, 93, of Lake City, Florida died, Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Still Waters Assisted Living. She was born in Akron Township June 28, 1915, to the late Neil and Bessie (Fox) Rogers. She lived in Cass City, Michigan where she farmed with her husband, Leb Pomeroy until her move to Bradenton, Florida in 1973, where they had been wintering for many years. Mrs. Pomeroy moved to Lake City in 1998. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, shuffleboard, making hooked rugs and tending to her beautiful plants. She also enjoyed traveling in their motor home, throughout the US, including Alaska and Canada. Mrs. Pomeroy was a lifetime member of the Eastern Stars. While in Michigan she attended the United Methodist Church in Cass City and the Wesley United Methodist Church in Lake City.
Mrs. Pomeroy is survived by her husband of 73 years, Lebbeus (Leb) Pomeroy, Lake City; daughter, Rae Marie Vainavicz, Kent City, Michigan; son, Michael (Mick) and Val Pomeroy, Lake City, FL; grandchildren: Ben Vainavicz, Jr., Fruitport, Michigan, Jeff Vainavicz, Sr., Kent City, Michigan, Renee (Eric) Vandriel, Sparta, Michigan, and TSGT Michael L. Pomeroy, Jr., USAF and wife Shana of Abilene, Texas; step-granddaughter Michelle (Chris) Robinson, Charlotte, Michigan. She also has several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Ben Vainavicz, Sr., and great-granddaughter, Ashley Vainavicz.
The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City. Rev. Anthony Vainavicz of Sparta, Michigan, and Rev. Paul Donelson will officiate with burial in Elkland Township Cemetery in Cass City.
Friends may call at the Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City from 3 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2008 and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service.
