ROGER JOHN POHLOD,
70, of Deford died following a long battle with cancer Monday, October 3, 2016 in Sanilac County Medical Care Facility, Sandusky. He was born January 1, 1946 in Cass City to John and Hellen (Woloshen) Pohlod. He married Mary Ann Sabo November 28, 1969 in St. Michael Catholic Church, Wilmot.
Roger graduated from Kingston High School. Farming was in his blood and from the time he was a young boy he worked on area dairy farms. Roger worked for Marlette Homes, and later worked for Marv Wilcox doing masonry work. He also brokered hay for a few years. For the last many years Roger worked for Osentoski Realty as a real estate agent. A favorite activity of Roger's was watching football especially the Detroit Lions. He enjoyed cows, kids, grandkids and listening to polka music.
Roger is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; children: Nicholas (Michele) Pohlod of Cass City, Damian (Lindy) Pohlod of Kingston, Victor (Liz Phillips) Pohlod of Deford, Adrian (Michelle Essex) Pohlod of Cass City, Andrea (Brady) Eldridge of Mayville; grandchildren: Kelsey (Jacob) Verbeek, Kylie Westerby, Trent Pohlod, Mason Roger Pohlod, Kate Pohlod, Brad Pohlod, Lucas Swiderski, Lance Swiderski, Abby Essex, Logan Boyle and baby Connor Eldridge due in November; brother, Daniel (Virginia) Pohlod of Kingston; cousins: Ron Woloshen and Race Woloshen; Mary Ann's family: Delores Sabo, Vera (Roger) Bouck, Luella (John) Krug, Louie (Rochelle) Sabo, Madelene (Bill) Parker, Mike Sabo and Michelle Sabo; many nieces and nephews. Roger will also be missed by his real estate family especially Dave Osentoski, Corey Michalski, and Gloria Walker. Roger is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Tom Sabo.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016 in Our Lady Consolata Parish St. Michael Catholic Church, Wilmot. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wilmot. Pallbearers for Mr. Pohlod will be: Jacob Verbeek, Ron Bouck, Nathan Bouck, Bryon Pohlod, Luke Krug and Mike Sabo Jr.. Memorials may be made to Tuscola County 4H, Our Lady Consolata Parish St. Michael Catholic Church, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
