JOHN POHLOD
John Pohlod, 86, of Kingston, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at home with his family at his side, following a long illness. He was born April 29, 1921 in Detroit to John and Mary (Kareha) Pohlod. He married Hellen Woloshen June 24, 1944 in Kingston.
John worked at the Ford Motor Company River Rouge plant before he went into the service and the Ford Motor Company Highland Park plant after. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Japan. He worked for Gurden Industries in Marlette until they closed. John worked for various contractors as a tile setter for many years. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #226 F & AM, the Kingston VFW Post #5317, the Caro American Legion Post #7 and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. John was a very talented woodworker making beautiful pieces for family and friends. His yard was manicured meticulously. He enjoyed working outside and spending time with family.
John is survived by his wife, Hellen; children: Roger (Mary Ann) Pohlod of Deford, Daniel (Virginia) Pohlod of Kingston; grandchildren: Nicholas (Michele) Pohlod, Damian (Lindy) Pohlod, Victor Pohlod, Adrian (Candy) Pohlod, Andrea Pohlod, Tina (Todd) Bundschuh, Bryon (Amanda Haarz) Pohlod; great grandchildren: Kelsey, Kate, Bradley, Kylie, Jeffrey, Justine, Colton, Allison, and Haley.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2008 in Kranz Funeral Home Kingston with Debra L. Kranz, Funeral Service Celebrant officiating. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund. Interment is in Kingston Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Pohlod: Nicholas Pohlod, Damian Pohlod, Victor Pohlod, Adrian Pohlod, Todd Bundschuh and Bryon Pohlod.
