MONA MAE PHILLIPS Mona M. Phillips, 86, of Deford, died Friday, October 29, 2004 in St. Marys Medical Center, Saginaw. She was born June 6, 1918 in Kingston to John and Ida (Stickle) Whittaker. She married Robert Phillips April 21, 1945 in Kingston. He died August 10, 1960. Mona worked in the cafeteria system at the Cass City and Deford Schools for 25 years. She helped Bob around the farm. Mona was a member of Deford United Methodist Church for 50 years. She also served as the Sunday School Treasurer. Mona was devoted to her family, had a good sense of humor, and was a good friend and neighbor. She enjoyed quilting and gardening and loved animals. Mona is survived by her daughter, Alice (Tom) Ellis of East Lansing; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Margaret Whittaker of Cheboygan; very special friend, Stormy the cat. She is preceded in death by an infant daughter; brothers: Nelson (Bing), Stanley, and George Whittaker; sister, Grace Quick. Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2004 in Novesta Church of Christ with Chuck Emmert officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery, Cass City.
