LAWRENCE HENRY PETTY,
70, of Columbiaville died Friday, December 17, 2010 in Lapeer Regional Medical Center. He was born March 14, 1940 at home in Lake Orion to Walter and Evelyn (Hoppe) Petty.
Larry worked for the Oakland County Road Commission as a Heavy Equipment Operator retiring after over 35 years. He was an active member and current officer of Burton Eagles Aerie #3814 and a former member of the Elks Lodge. Larry enjoyed old cars and watching car races, making many visits to Auto City in Flint. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and darts. His favorite pastime was spending time with his best friend and co-pilot, his Welsh Corgi, Tonie.
Larry is survived by his children: Evelyn Petty of Yale, Sandra “Sandy” Petty of Portage, Christopher “Shawn” (Elaine) Petty of Fenton; grandchildren: Alyssa, Matthew, Noah and Svetlana; brothers: Richard “Dick” (Carrie) Petty of Lake Orion, Monte (Carol) Petty of Kingston; nieces and nephews: Richard “Dickie”, Coral, Tina, Jeff, James and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Charles “Chuckie” Petty.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Pastor Gerald Wexelberg of Shepherd’s House Church, Lapeer officiating. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
