Larry V. Peters, 80, of Cass City, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 19, 2018 in Hills and Dales General Hospital, Cass City. He was born September 9, 1937 in Tyre, the fifth of nine children born to Virgil and Sophie (Konkel) Peters. He married Harriet Marie Young April 28, 1967 in Verona.
Larry graduated from Cass City High School in 1955. He worked in his father’s sawmills is Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola counties. Larry served in the US Army stationed in Korea and later in the Merchant Marines patrolling the Great Lakes. He delivered snack foods and pizzas to various area bars and party stores. Larry owned and operated a carwash in Cass City. He was well known for the huge rocker chair that he built, that sits in his yard. Larry enjoyed supporting the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. He loved to tinker with his collection of antique cars.
Larry is survived by his wife, Harriet; brothers: Dwaine (Helen) Peters of Cass City, Randy (Julie) Peters of Sherwood; sister, Mary Lou Kerr of Bay City; sister-in-law, Judy Peters of Allegan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Ron Peters, Gordon Peters, LaVerne Peters, Roger Peters; sister, Patricia Kelley.
Graveside service held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in Elkland Township Cemetery. Military honors conducted by Cass City V.F.W. Post # 3644 and the U.S. Army.
