Ray Periso, 67, of Cass City, died Wednesday, August 27, 2003 in Tendercare Nursing Facility, Cass City. He was born February 24, 1936 at home in Sanilac County to William and Flora (Lintner) Periso.

Ray served in the U.S. Army. He worked in factories for a few years then began farming. Later, Ray was self-employed doing many jobs including mechanic and tree clearing. He loved fishing and being on the water. Ray played the guitar and sang with other family members. He enjoyed gardening and canning what he grew. He also enjoyed growing and working with his flowers. Ray was very focused and high spirited. He took care of the tasks that were before him. He treated his children well and taught them how to work. Ray loved spending time with his family.

Ray is survived by his children: Sherry Lester of Caro, Ray Periso, Jr. of Cass City, Fred Periso of Gagetown, Laura Miller of Caro, Lisa Fritz of Caro, Sara Periso of Vassar; 14 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters: Clara (John) Bulla of Cass City, Eunice (Paul) Tankkeman of Richmond; brother, Jadie Periso of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters: Eva Wise and Lula May; brothers: Ernest Periso, Fred Periso, John Periso, William Periso and Edward Periso.

Funeral services held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2003 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Doug Bassett, Heartland Hospice Chaplain officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Lung Association. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery.

Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m., Friday
2 to 5 & 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday
