Jadie "Jadis" Edward Periso, Sr., 91, of Cass City, died following a short illness Monday, May 19, 2014 in his home surrounded by family. He was born August 13, 1922 in Argyle, Michigan to William and Flora (Litner) Periso.
Jadie attended the Deford Elementary School. Leaving school at a young age he joined the work force. Jadie later joined the US Army, serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was decorated with the World War II Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. Following his military service he worked for Marlette Trailer Factory. He then worked for Sargents Road Construction in Saginaw retiring after many years. Jadie worked part time buying and selling homes and also part time topping sugar beets for McNeil Farms of Unionville. He was a former member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Wilmot. He was a former Masonic Temple member, Shriners member and Caro Moose Lodge member. Jadie enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also was an avid fisherman, enjoyed playing cards, hunting, and camping. Jadie wasn't your typical old person, he often acted like a younger person. He was very colorful and had a good sense of humor.
Jadie is survived by his long time companion, Janet Carol Guthrie of Cass City; children: Brenda Sue (John) Stilwell of Scottsdale, AZ, Jadie Edward (Amanda Bolton) Periso, Jr. of Cass City, and Kimberly (Matthew Johnson) Periso of Cass City; grandchildren: Robert and Melanie Rabideau, Pleshette, Corbin Ruth, MacKenzie McClard, and Kyndra Benn; 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Ernie Periso, John Periso, Edward Periso, Fredrick Periso, Raymond Periso, William Periso, Clara Bulla, Eva Wise, Eunice Tankkeman, Lula May.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2014 at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery, Cass City. Pallbearers are Jadie Periso, Matt Johnson, Frankie Periso, Edward Periso, Roger Guthrie, Cory Ruth, Corbin Ruth, and Gary Periso. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund. Military honors under the direction of the US Army and Cass City VFW Post #3644.
Visitation: 2 to 5 & 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014.
