R. LORRAINE PEARCE
Lorraine Pearce, 90, of Zeeland, died Monday, May 14, 2007 in Holland Hospital, Holland. She was born April 19, 1917 in Cass City to Milton and Edith (Vader) Hoffman. She married Keath Pearce in 1941. He died June 17, 2000.
Lorraine graduated from Michigan State College (MSU) in 1940 with a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics. After her marriage she managed and kept the books for her husbands veterinary business, Pearce Veterinary Hospital in Coldwater. Lorraine sang with the Coldwater Sweet Adelines for over 50 years, many of those years serving as their costuming chairperson. She was a member of MSUs Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, Coldwaters Beta Sigma Phi sorority and an auxiliary member of Southwest Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. Lorraine was very artistic and creative and an extremely talented seamstress. She was a voracious reader and loved music. She was the chaperone, for many years, for the Miss Branch County Pageant, providing mentoring and guidance to the contestants. Lorraine loved attending her granddaughters many different school activities.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Marc Lee Pearce of Longmont, CO; Lynne (Christopher) Miller of Zeeland; granddaughters: Lindey Lee Miller of Zeeland, Sara Elizabeth Miller of Zeeland; brother, Arlington �"Barney (Ruth) Hoffman of Cass City; nieces: Gail Ian of Northville, Robin (Jon) Rice of Caro; nephews: Kell (Shirley) Hoffman of Cass City, Randy (Kim) Hoffman of Harrisonburg, VA.
Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Debra L. Kranz, Funeral Service Celebrant officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Holland, 270 Hoover Blvd., Holland, MI 49423. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery.
