PAUL R. BURDON
Paul R. Burdon, 83, of Gagetown died Saturday, April 5, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born June 22, 1941 in Cass City to Willard and Joyce (Ricker) Burdon. Paul and Barbara Elaine Irrer were married on July 28, 1962 in St. Agatha Catholic Church of Gagetown. She preceded Paul in death on December 10, 2023.
Paul graduated from Cass City High School in 1959. He was an excellent high school baseball pitcher, known for his no-hitters and shut-out games. Paul worked as a plant manager for the fertilizer plant in Gagetown his entire career and continued to work for them part time following his retirement. He continued to stay in touch with the many farmers that he came to know over the years. Paul loved walleye fishing and deer hunting. He was an avid sports fan. Paul was a member of the Central Thumb of Cass City-Gagetown Chapter of the Knights of Columbus and Our Lady Consolata Parish, Gagetown.
Paul is survived by his son, Willard (Lynda) Burdon of Muskegon; daughter, Paula Potter of East Lansing; grandchildren: Josh Burdon of Hazel Park; Jordan Burdon of Litchfield Park, AZ; Zack Burdon of Tallahassee, FL; Morgan Potter of Washington DC; Lauren Potter of Forest Park, IL; siblings: Ronald (Mary) Burdon, Lynn (Charles) McPhail, Elizabeth Mayer. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Barbara.
As a friend to many, he was well known for his shenanigans, sense of humor, and his “way with words.” He loved to have fun, and he was especially proud of his grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2025 in Our Lady Consolata, Gagetown with Fr. Robert Pare officiating. Interment will be in St. Agatha Cemetery, Gagetown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Compassus Hospice Care of Cass City or St. Agatha Cemetery Fund (check must be made out to Our Lady Consolata).
