Ronald S. Parrott, Sr., 77, of Cass City, died following a brief illness Saturday, January 18, 2020 in Satchell’s Christian Retirement Home, Caro. He was born January 24, 1942 in Cass City to Gail Linwood and Louella Bernadine (Sherwood) Parrott. He married Wanda Lee Bader June 1, 1963 in Cass City. She died January 25, 2017.
Ron graduated from Cass City High School and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in management and engineering from Central Michigan University. He worked for General Motors in the Warren Tech Center, retiring after thirty-three years. Ron taught home wiring and electronics to high school and college students as a night class. He enjoyed the outdoors, deer hunting and spending time with family at Camp Chippewa in Mio and Parrott Farms in Cass City. Ron loved trail riding, dirt bikes and snowmobiles. His passion for motocross carried through to the formation of the M3, Michigan Motocross Ministries, with his dear friend, Craig MacPhee. Ron completed the Six Days of Michigan Trail Ride twice. Family and faith were everything to him and above all, his grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Ron is survived by his children: Tamara Sonnenberg of Caro, Ronald (Mindy) Parrott, Jr. of Grand Blanc; grandchildren: Jeremy (Isabella) Sonnenberg, Micaela Sonnenberg, Raelyn Sonnenberg, Briana Parrott, Bradyn Parrott; dear brother, Richard Parrott of Caro; sisters-in-law: Marjorie Caister of Cass City; Helen Hubbard of Cass City; Audrey Halas of Royal Oak; Sandra Bader of Cass City; brother-in-law, Gerald Auten of Cass City; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Joyce Januchowski of Cass City. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda; son-in-law, John Sonnenberg; sisters-in-law: Deb Parrott, Donna Auten; brothers-in-law: Robert (Shirley) Bader, Arthur Caister, Gene Chapin, Newell Hubbard, Dale Bader.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Interment will take place in Novesta Township Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Novesta Church of Christ, Cass City.
