CORA MARIE PARROTT
88, of Cass City, died following a short illness Monday, April 1, 2013 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit. She was born February 19, 1925 in Flint to Peter and Flossie M. (Lockwood) Westerby. She married Joseph William "Bill" Parrott June 12, 1943 in Brighton. He died December 31, 2006.

Cora was raised by her grandmother, Sarah Lockwood after her mother died in childbirth. She graduated from Caro High School and was married three days later to the love of her life. They were married for 63 years. For over 50 years, Bill and Cora owned and operated Parrott Ice Cream Company, manufacturing and distributing ice cream products to retail stores in the Thumb Region. Cora was a lifetime member of Ellington Church of the Nazarene. She served as Sunday School teacher and youth leader for many years. Cora shared her beautiful Alto voice in the church choir and was a former church board member. Earlier Bill and Cora were both very active in the service of the church. Cora loved to read, bake, and work in her flowers. She played the piano by ear and this served as her relaxation in her spare time. Most important to Cora was being a mom and wife. She loved being a mother to her four children.
