HARRY CARL "BUBBA" PAPKE, JR.
75, of Kingston, died following a long, hard fight against Covid-19 Monday, December 28, 2020 in the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor with his family by his side. He was born August 30, 1945 to Harry Carl and Beulah Mae (King) Papke, Sr. in North Branch. He married Shirley Ann Thompson October 20, 1972 in Clifford.
Harry graduated from Kingston High School in 1963. He was a lineman by trade and retired from the Detroit Edison Company in 2003, after twenty-eight years of service. Harry’s greatest loves were traveling America with his beloved wife, hunting out west with his son, and many friends. He also enjoyed buying and selling cars and car parts. Harry possessed mad Euchre skills and loved political opinions. He appreciated the camaraderie of the Piss and Moan Club in Beagio’s of Kingston. Harry cherished time spent with family. He loved his children and grandchildren beyond measure. He touched their lives in a way that only a grandpa could.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Shirley; daughter, Trace Papke of Saginaw; son, Jerry Papke of Kingston; grandchildren: Luis R. Vargas Jr., USMC; Alexis (Austin) Sian of Beaverton; Maichen Papke of Kingston; Jesse Papke of Kingston; sisters: Shelbie Ripperdan of Bad Axe; Mary Ann (Terry) Hansen of Bad Axe; many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. He was met in heaven by his parents; brother, Charles; sister, Ellen; his beloved coon dog, Raider.
