JANICE MARIE ORTON,
55, of Deford, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in Covenant Medical Center, Cooper Campus, Saginaw. She was born September 5, 1954 in New Albany, IN to Alberta (Bland) Burlingame. She married Kenneth Lee Orton March 6, 1976 in Caro.
Janice was formerly a nurse for Northwood Meadows. She belonged to the Thumb Area CB’ers Club. Janice enjoyed gardening and crafts, especially painting birdhouses. She loved the holidays, especially decorating for the holidays.
Janice is survived by her husband, Kenneth; son, Jess Lee Orton of Deford; brothers: John Tetrick and Roy Vernon (Lorraine) Tetrick, Jr.; Aunts and Uncles: Charlotte (Jack) Riedel of Vassar and their children; George “Boe” (Rosie) Bland of Jeffersonville, IN, Donald (Shirley) Bland of Flint, Leslie “Polly” Bland of Fenton, Bonnie (David) Spooner of Clio, Bud (Judy) Bland of Genesee; mother and father in-law: Kenneth and Agnes Orton of Moss Point, MS; sister-in-laws: April Orton of Kinde, Daryl Jeannette (Ron) Seeley of Moss Point, MS, Amanda (Thomas) of Sterling; brother-in-laws: Darrell James (Ella) Orton of Gagetown, Thomas (Melissa) Orton of Moss Point, MS, Alva (Rebecca) Orton of Virginia Beach, VA; many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friend, her dog Lucy. Janice is preceded in death by her mother,
Alberta Burlingame; stepfather, Leon Burlingame; and sister, Connie Darlene Tetrick.
Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Judy Esckilson of Cass City Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Orton: Robert Sangster, Jerry Kitchen, Larry Wood, Rick Riedel, Ricky Riedel and Allen Vargo.
