THOMAS IVAN �"IKE OCONNOR
Thomas �"Ike OConnor, 85, of Port Austin, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 in Huron Medical Center, Bad Axe, after a long illness. He was born August 28, 1919 at home in Watrousville to Dennis Patrick and Mable Blance (Wickware) OConnor. He married Ruth Kirby Wagner May 5, 1968 in Tawas.
Ike served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for the State of Michigan at the Caro State Hospital as a Resident Care Aid for 5 years and then as an Inspector in the Weights and Measures Department, inspecting elevators, retiring in 1982. Ike enjoyed golfing and camping. He was an excellent guitar player and loved guitar music.
Ike is survived by his wife, Ruth; sister, Marion Thomas of Plymouth; step-children: Bev (Les) Auten of Cass City, Aileen (Daryl) Wisner of Sarnac, Dorothy Green of Grand Rapids, Jill (Bill) Haps of Grand Rapids, Vickie (Gary) DeHaan of Georgetown, SC, Mary (Dale) Parsons of Cass City, Kurt (Alice) Wagner of Grand Rapids; 28 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Morris, Francis, Louis, Alton and Vincent OConnor; sister, Genevieve Bartle; and step-son, John Wagner.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2005 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Dale Parsons officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Military honors under the direction of Cass City VFW Post #3644.
