Catherine “Kate” Nowakowski, 79, of Deford, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010 in Sanilac County Medical Care Facility, Sandusky. She was born April 27, 1931 in Watrousville to Michael and Julia (King) Baker. Kate married George Nowakowski June 26, 1965. He died December 19, 1990.
Kate was a voracious reader. Reading was truly her passion and it was not uncommon for her to read four or five books a week. Kate played the piano and guitar and in her younger years was a member of the church choir. She also enjoyed doing yard work.
Kate is survived by her sister, Mary Stuart; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Joe, Steve, Mike; sisters: Julia, Rose, Anna.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor Steve Totten of Living Word Worship Center, Cass City officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Living Word Worship Center.
