Eugene D. Nicholas, 56, of Cass City, died Thursday, July 21, 2005 in his home. He was born May 16, 1949 in Cass City to Floyd and Martha (Preba) Nicholas.
Eugene graduated from Cass City High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam war in Viet Nam. Eugene worked at General Motors retiring in May 2000 after 30 years. Eugene enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports. He was an avid University of Michigan football fan and Detroit Pistons basketball fan. Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church serving as an Elder and an usher. He was a member of Cass City VFW Post #3644.
Eugene is survived by his daughter, Heather (David Hellebuyck) Nicholas of Sterling Heights, son; Jason Guza of Bad Axe; mother, Martha Nicholas of Cass City; brothers and sisters: Judy (Larry) Merchant of Cass City, Les (Linda) Nicholas of Caro; Danny Nicholas of Cass City, Mary (Richard) Tate of Cass City; Kenneth (Sally) Nicholas of Bad Axe, Rosey (Jim) Apley of Cass City; Terry (Melanie) Nicholas of Cass City; Paul Nicholas of Cass City; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd in 1967.
Funeral service held 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2005 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev. Cameron Steele of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Caro officiating. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Military honors under the direction of Cass City VFW Post #3644.
