Mary J. Mulligan, 101, of Cass City, formerly of Central Islip, NY, died Tuesday, November 18, 2003 in her grandson’s home. She was born November 2, 1902 in Manhattan, New York to Jerome V. and Mary (Jurka) Jerome. She married Arthur Mulligan November 6, 1927, in Bay Shore, NY. He preceded her in death.
Mary worked in New York as a Textile Designer, a Post Office Clerk and later as a Travel Agent. As a travel agent she was compensated with trips around the world. She enjoyed gardening, reading and loved to travel. In later years Mary served as an auxiliary member for South Shore Hospital, Long Island, NY. Mary was an artist, creating many beautiful paintings and she was an avid Yankees fan.
Mary is survived by her grandchildren: Elizabeth Mulligan of Waterford, Jerry (Karen) Mulligan of Farmington Hills, and Kevin (Dee Ann) Mulligan of Cass City; great grandchildren: Jerome and Katie Mulligan and Michael Mulligan. She is preceded in death by sons, Arthur and Jerry Mulligan; grandson, John Mulligan; brother, Jerome Jerome.
Private memorial service to be held in the near future. Mary’s cremated remains will be interred with her husband, in Central Islip, NY. Memorials may be made to Rawson Memorial Library.
