ALVIN JOHN MOZDZEN
Alvin J. Mozdzen, 73, of Hale died following a long illness Friday, December 21, 2018 in Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital, Saginaw. He was born June 4, 1945 in Cass City the first child of seven born to Adolph John and Jennie Josephine (Polheber) Mozdzen. He married Jeri Ann Field November 19, 1966 in St. Michael Catholic Church, Wilmot.
Alvin graduated from Cass City High School with the class of 1963. He served in the U.S. Navy stationed at the Bainbridge Naval Base. Before being drafted and after he returned, Al worked for General Motors Pontiac Motors Plant retiring in 1999 after 35 years of service. Alvin enjoyed hunting, particularly deer, black bear and rabbits. He participated in Enduro racing and ran in 10K races and was qualified for the Boston Marathon. Al was very handy and a talented woodworker making furniture for family and friends. Al and Jeri worked together to build their log cabin retirement home in Hale. They enjoyed camping in their Fifth Wheel especially their three-month trip across the United States and Canada.
Al is survived by his wife, Jeri; children: Laura (Donald) Heeke of Imlay City, Craig (Jacki) Mozdzen of Warren; grandchildren: Colin, Hannah, and Presley; mother, Jennie Mozdzen of Deford; siblings: Ronald (Marcia) Mozden of Deford, Marge Mozden of Deford, Gerald (Shelley) Mozden of Evart, Edward (Karen) Mozden of Deford, Mark (Julie) Mozdzen of Deford, Julie (Brian) Dasinger of Cripple Creek, CO; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Adolph Mozdzen; nephew, Jacob Mozdzen.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor David Cooper of Deford Community Church officiating. Pallbearers for Alvin will be: Craig Mozdzen, Donald Heeke, Colin Heeke, Ron Mozden, Jerry Mozden, Edward Mozden, Mark Mozdzen. Memorials may be made to Hale Area Fish Thrift Shoppe.
