DONALD PARSONS MILLS,
82, of Cass City, died Friday, December 31, 2010 in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born May 27, 1928 in Lincoln Park to William and Irene (Parsons) Mills. He married Patricia A. Cox August 4, 1950.
Donald graduated from Henry Ford Trade School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War working as an airplane mechanic. After his military service Don worked as a Chemist at the Mobil Oil Refinery in Trenton, Michigan. He worked for Ford Motor Company at the Ford Proving Grounds in Dearborn Michigan. He then worked for Detroit Edison, retiring after 23 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0225.
Donald is survived by his wife, Patricia; seven children: Donald W. (Ellen) Mills of Watertown, Michigan, David A. Mills (Kristal Thomson) of Caro, Danny R. (Linda) Mills of Caro, Dale R. Mills (Judy Martin) of Cass City, Valerie L. Hudson (Robert Marker) of Deford, Douglas E. (RoxAnn) Mills of Watertown, South Dakota, Virginia L. (Scot) Buschlen of Owendale; grandchildren: Annette, Donald, Malinda, Anthony, Andrea, Todd, Dawn, Carrie, Jennifer, Megan, Christopher, Timothy, Ronald, Amanda, Angela, William, Bryan; 31 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Brown; brother, William E. Mills; daughters-in-law, Rosemary Mills and Carol Mills.
Funeral service is to be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Pamela Barnett of Shabbona United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Medical Center of Saginaw or the American Cancer Society.
