CORY DAVID MERZ
Cory D. Merz, 17, of Cass City, died Monday, June 28, 2004 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Tuscola County. He was born April 7, 1987 in Arlington, TX to David and Lisa (Ambler) Merz.
Cory would have begun 11th grade at Cass City High School in the fall. He played linebacker and tight end for the Cass City Red Hawks Football team. Football was his passion. Cory was an independent young man and truly enjoyed spending time with his friends. Cory worked for the Northwood Condo Association and Robert Bliss.
Cory is survived by his parents, David and Lisa Merz; aunts and uncles: Debra and Jim Plowman of Bridgeport, William and Terri Merz, Jr. of Saginaw, Richard and Kathy Merz of Saginaw, Sara (Eric Grim) Merz of Saginaw; great aunt, June Mills of Trophy Club, TX; cousins: Ryan and Dylan Merz. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: William and Mary Lou (Wald) Merz; Barbara (Cobb) and Frances Ambler; aunt, Mary Sue Merz, who died in 1995; uncle, Jim Merz who died in 1968. Cory’s grandma, Mary Lou Merz, died about six hours after Cory.
Funeral services to be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Sister Elaine Raymond of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Saginaw, officiating. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund. Interment is in Elmwood Township Cemetery, Cass City. Pallbearers for Cory are: Jake Wald, Justin Taylor, Dave Erla, Nick Nanny, Jeff Tuckey, Chris Johnson, Brandon Lefler and Jack Palmer. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday
