JOHN ALEXANDER MEFFER
59, died Sunday, April 25, 2021 following a courageous battle with cancer in Covenant Medical Center Harrison Campus, Saginaw. He was born January 4, 1962 in Mt. Clemens to John J. and Penny (Bennett) Meffer.
John attended Manistique area schools. He enjoyed hunting and fishing while living in the Upper Peninsula. John worked as a brick layer with his brother Jim and was a co-founder of Meffer’s Masonry. An avid fisherman and boater, John visited marinas all over the state. He was also fond of the Thumb area, visiting his mom, and touring lakes to find the best fishing holes. John had a great sense of humor, he shared his gift of sarcasm and enjoyed making people laugh. He loved his family and children more than anything. John wanted to be certain that they had a good life. He always made time for adventures and making memories with his great nephews, Liam and Mason.
John is survived by his children: Paige Meffer of Eastpointe, Johnny (Jaci) Meffer of Detroit; his mother, Penny Meffer of Bad Axe; brother, Jim (Angie) Meffer of Thompson; sister, Barbara (James) Moase of Taylors, SC; sister-in-law, Dawn Meffer of Bad Axe; grandchildren: Ashli (James) Ware of Warren; Arika Ware of Detroit; great grandson, Michael; step-sons: Dale and Jake; several nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; many friends. He is preceded in death by his father, John J. Meffer; brothers: Steven Meffer, Joseph Meffer; sister, Anita Meffer; his children’s mother, Patricia Williams.
Graveside service held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2021 in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ, Cass City officiating. Following the service there will be a celebration of his life in Wilcox Park, Bad Axe. Friends may share memories, prayers, and photos with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
