CHARLES A. MCPHAIL
72, of Cass City, died with his family by his side Thursday, November 7, 2013, following a short illness. He was born March 16, 1941 in his grandparents home on the family farm in Holbrook to Archie and Martha (Brown) McPhail. He married Joyce Faye Maynard September 7, 1986 in Evangelical Free Church, Cass City.

Charlie served in the U. S. Army. He worked for General Cable for a short time and then for Anrod Screen Cylinder in Cass City retiring after 35 years. He later retired from Cass City Oil and Gas. Charlie was a lifetime member and current president of the Cass City Gun Club. He is a member of the Caro American Legion Post #7. At one time Charlie enjoyed dancing and participated in several dance competitions. Charlie was a true supporter of Special Olympics attending many events. He enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, fishing and deer hunting. He taught Hunter Safety for five generations and was recently recognized for his over 25 years of teaching. Charlie worked as a flagman for Thunder Road Race Track and Owendale Speedway totaling over 35 years. He was a loyal Dale Earnhardt fan. Most of all Charlie enjoyed his family. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren participate in their various sports.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Joyce; children: Kelly (George Koehler) Kratz of Caro, Dawn (Jason) Root of Mayville, Charles (Sharon) McPhail of Lewisburg, WV, David McPhail of Cass City, Julie (Mike) Kolacz of Deford, Jennifer (Mike) Proctor of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren: Erica, Micaylee, Sam, Paige, Kendall, Lyndsey, Ian; great granddaughter, Maddie. Charlie is also survived by his sister, Grace Stuart of Deford; brother Robert (Kathy) McPhail of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cindy; brother, Morris McPhail and his parents.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2013 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Jackie Roe of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers for Mr. McPhail: Erica Kolacz, Micaylee Root, Sam Kolacz, Paige McPhail, Kendall Root, Lyndsey Root and Ian McPhail; active pallbearers: George Koehler, Jason Root, Charles McPhail, David McPhail, Mike Kolacz and Mike Proctor. Memorials may be made to United Hospice of Marlette Residence Center or Family Discretionary Fund.
