GWENDOLYN R. McLACHLAN
Gwendolyn R. McLachlan, 73, of Cass City died Wednesday, September 5, 2007 in Courtney Manor, Bad Axe following a short illness. She was born November 30, 1933 at home in Brookfield Township, Huron County to C. Robert and Beryl (Ricker) Osborn. She married Archie A. McLachlan January 14, 1956 in Gagetown. He died May 31, 1984.
Gwen attended Central Michigan University and received her nurses training from Saginaw General Hospital. She worked as an RN and served as Director of Nurses at the Huron County Medical Care Facility, retiring after 36 years. Gwen was a member of Fraser Presbyterian Church, a life member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Tom Thumb Singers. She enjoyed cross stitching, gardening, canning and cooking. Gwen truly loved her grandchildren and coveted every minute with them.
Gwen is survived by her children: Bob McLachlan of Ubly, Scott McLachlan of Ubly, Bea McLachlan of Ionia; grandchildren: Shelby Gwen McLachlan and Zachary McLachlan; special friend, Robert Cregeur of Bad Axe; sisters: Marilyn (Anton) Peters of Cass City, Nida Jean Osborn of Port Hope, Norma (Richard) Wallace of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by an infant son, Archie Robert and her parents.
Funeral service held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2007 in Cass City First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Blackburn officiating. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. McLachlan: Patrick Peters, Chris Peters, Tom Wallace, Rich Cregeur, Bill Andrich and Charlie Cregeur.
