Harold J. McGrath, 92, of Cass City, died Saturday, May 17, 2003 in Tendercare Nursing Facility, Cass City. He was born July 21, 1910 in Cass City to John and Oreno (Schenck) McGrath. He married Helen Beatrice Muntz August 22, 1936 in Bad Axe. She died January 26, 1993.
Harold was a lifelong resident of Cass City. He loved to farm and actually farmed for over 50 years. He was a lifetime member of the Cass City United Methodist Church where he was also the 2nd oldest member. He was also a life member of the Masons.
Harold is survived by his children: Sally Siegel of Cass City, Robert (Judi) McGrath of Las Vegas, NV, David (Carol) McGrath of Skandia; grandchildren: Cari (Bob) Baker of N. Las Vegas, NV, Ron (Cindy) Pettinger of Snover, Christine (Ronald) Gaulton of Tuscon, AZ, Cathleen Reid of Denver, CO, Adam McGrath, Joe McGrath, Bill (Debbie) McGrath of Cass City, Sundae McGrath, Triscia McGrath of Caro, Michael McGrath of Caro, Jennifer (Mike) Samuelson of Caro, Michael Colleur, Cassie Colleur; great grandchildren: Rachel and Sara Pettinger, Katelyn Reid, Brenna Gaulton; brothers: Louis (Phyllis) McGrath of Bruce Crossings, Ray “Wormy” (Fran) McGrath of Florida; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters: Joann Schotts and Lorine Watts.
Funeral services held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2003 at Kranz Funeral Home with Rev. George Ward of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made to the Marlette Community Hospital, Cass City United Methodist Church or Tendercare. Pallbearers for Mr. McGrath will be Jack, Doug and David Laurie, Dailey Parrish, Bill Zinnecker and Bill McGrath. Honorary pallbearers will be George Clara, Jack Esau and John Marshall.
