MARY ALICE McCOMB
Mary Alice McComb, 86, of Cass City, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 in White Hills Health Care Nursing Home, East Lansing. She was born March 13, 1918 at home in Sheridan Township, Huron County to Robert and Hazel (Lake) Henderson. She married Charles Fay McComb November 24, 1938 in Bad Axe. He died November 23, 1993.
After her children were born, Alice worked seven years at the General Telephone office before staying home as a homemaker and mom until they were in college. Alice worked as a teller at Pinney State Bank for 20 years, beginning by typing the manuscript of �"A History of Cass City” compiled by Fred Pinney. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cass City about 50 years. She was a member of Cass City Women’s Club (former Business and Professional Women’s Club), Hills and Dales Auxiliary and First Baptist Church Women’s Groups. Alice enjoyed knitting, sewing and bowling, which she did for over 20 years. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and had the same group of girls from Brownies to Senior Scouts. She taught Sunday School for several years.
Alice is survived by her children: Beverly Rusmisel of Saginaw, Robert (JoAnn) McComb of Dewitt; grandchildren: Rebecca Williamson, Barbara Taylor, Sara McComb (Abhi Deshmukh), Tom (Kerry) McComb, Mark (Tammy) McComb; great grandchildren: Justin Taylor, Katelyn McComb, Jacob McComb, Hannah McComb; brother-in-law, (Henry) Hulbert of Flint; sisters-in-law: Harriet Collins of Pigeon, Irene Radovic of CO, Shirley McComb of Cass City; brother-in-law, Manley (Ruth) McComb of Caseville; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sisters: Ethel Jager and Grace Hulbert; brothers: John Henderson and Russell Henderson.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2005 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Eric Holmgren officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in Novesta Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association or First Baptist Church of Cass City.
