RUSSELL HAROLD MAYER, 86, of Kingston was called home by our Lord Saturday, August 29, 2009. He was born April 7, 1923 in Highland Park to Russell and Edna Mae (Brown) Mayer, Sr. He married Virginia Helen Formaz December 12, 1942 in Detroit. She died February 28, 2008 after 65 years of marriage.
Russell served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater with the 22nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Group. He worked as an Automation Engineer in the Detroit area for many years. After retirement Russell and Virginia moved to the Kingston area where Russell was very active in Koylton Township serving on the Zoning Board including Zoning Administrator. He attended the VFW Posts in Kingston, Mayville and Caro and the American Legion and the D.A.V..
Russell will be sadly missed by many people including his daughter, Penelope S. Barrons of Caro; granddaughters: Rebecca (Robert) Daniels of Caro, Gabrielle (Troy) Daniels of Palm City, FL, Vanessa Nowak of Midland and Elora Barrons of Caro; great grandchildren: Dakota and Kassidy Daniels of Palm City, FL; sister, Patricia Dundas of Evart; many nieces and nephews; and especially his little dog, Buddy.
Interment and military service will take place at a later date at his graveside in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly where he will be buried with his wife.
