SHIRLEY JEAN MATSON,
63, of Cass City, died following a short illness Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in Covenant Medical Center Harrison Campus, Saginaw. She was born January 24, 1950 in Detroit to Dell and Elizabeth "Betty" (Boon) Wareham.
Shirley was a licensed beautician owning her own shop in Detroit for over five years. She and her husband owned and operated KOT Truck Repair for ten years and Matson Transport Trucking for 20 years. Shirley worked in the deli at the Cass City IGA and in the deli and most recently in the meat department at Erla's Grocery Store. She loved working in her flowers. Shirley loved to travel especially to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to visit friends.
Shirley is survived by her children: Cindy (Jeremy) Stilson of Cass City, Peter (Rachael) Matson of Bad Axe, Raymond (Anita) Matson of Cass City; grandchildren: Daisy, Brandon, Diane, Tiffaney, Hailey, Amanda, Sarah, Dakota, Brianna, Olivia, Ashley; great grandchildren: Jayden and Mason; sister, Janet Hurley of Cass City; nieces and nephews: Lorie Hurley of Saginaw, Tammy Hurley of Cass City, Steven (Pam) of Statesville, NC, Wendy (Rick) Sekley of Traverse City; several great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Jackie Roe of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
